Description »
Easy-to-reach dog sledding in a beautiful mountain region
Winter 2025: We strongly recommend booking immediately. This experience has only a small number of tour dates each season and availability can change quickly.
The mountains of Trøndelag in central Norway offer excellent possibilities for dog sledding. Being easily accessible from Trondheim, served by direct flights from the UK on many dates, makes Go Dog Sledding in Trøndelag an ideal option for a dog sledding getaway with reduced travel costs and time commitment compared to tours further north.
There are three tour options available - choose between a 3-day Open Tour, welcoming both male and female participants, or 3-day or 5-day Ladies' Tours, which are specifically for female guests.
This beautiful region offers dramatic mountain scenery and wonderful opportunities for sledding. Photo: NHA.
Choose your tour to suit your preferred level of challenge and accommodation
You will be given full guidance in how to harness your team and handle the sled before heading off into the beautiful winter landscape, stopping for lunch over open fire along the way.
Go Dog Sledding in Trøndelag is an ideal introduction to the excitement of a point-to-point dogsled tour and the thrill of driving your own dogsled*. No previous experience is required - just a taste for adventure (and of course a love of dogs is also very helpful!).
*The 3-day Ladies' Tour itinerary features day tours from accommodation base and participants share sled one per two persons.

The 3-day Open and 5-day itineraries include an overnight tour to mountain cabin. Photo: NHA.
Option 1: 3-Day Open Tour
After instruction in harnessing your dogsled team and handling the sled, you will set out for a 2-day dogsled adventure in the mountains, mushing your own team of 4-6 dogs. The tour includes one night in simple mountain cabin in the wilderness and one night in comfortable chalet accommodation.
Option 2: 3-Day Ladies Tour
Two wonderful dog sledding day tours in the Norwegian mountains with accommodation and dinner each night in comfortable chalet accoommodation. Sleds are shared one per two persons.
Special female-only tour dates are one of the options offered. Photo: NHA.
Options 3: 5-Day Ladies' Tour
This 5-day option features chalet accommodation plus a point-to-point tour component with an overnight in simple mountain cabin out in the wilderness.
These special "ladies only" dog sledding tours, where the only males will be in your dog team, combine the adventure and excitement of mushing your own dogsled team with the special atmosphere of an all-female tour.
The ladies' husky tours are an ideal way to discover the joy of dog sledding and working with your own husky team in an all-female setting, whether you choose to participate as a solo female traveller or with friends.
Getting Involved
As with all our dogsled tours, you will be involved in all aspects of the trip, and this is very much part of the experience. You will assist with caring for your dog team, including harnessing, feeding (and, yes, picking up poo!), as well as tasks around camp such as fetching water, chopping wood, preparing food, washing up, etc.
