Over the years, our guests have sent us many wonderful photos from their adventures – some amazingly artistic, some stunningly beautiful, and some just downright hilarious! Here we’ve collected some of our favourite “Arctic Explorer Selfies”, showcasing frosty visages of guests who have travelled on our range of winter experiences from dog sledding to ski touring to snowy log cabins!

#1: Discover Dog Sledding in Lapland (Sweden) – Marcel Andry

What a great expression Marcel has captured in this photo – it beautifully illustrates the wonder and magic of being out on a winter adventure in real Arctic conditions!

#2: Backcountry Skiing and Northern Lights in Finnish Lapland (Finland) – Roland Meier

Roland (left) should be justly proud of this photo to mark a great achievement – he’s our only guest to have done both the Lemmenjoki and Halti itineraries back to back. Each tour is challenging enough in itself, but doing both consecutively deserves kudos indeed!

#3: Winter Log Cabin Escape in Värmland (Sweden) – Caroline Bennett

Caroline’s photo is one of our winter favourites – we love the hat!

#4: Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland (Sweden) – Lauren Hookings

Lauren and Matthew chose the coldest week we’ve ever had on one of our dogsled tours for their honeymoon – minus 43 degrees C at one point! What a way to start married life – our very best wishes to them both!

“It was honestly the most amazing trip. We are so glad we choose it for our honeymoon. Our guide was brilliant and we saw the northern lights four times! We were so sad to leave the dogs. They have such a special place in our hearts.”

#5: Ski Touring on the King’s Trail (Sweden) – Alfred Jackle

We just love the icy beard! Ski touring is one of our most challenging winter activities, taking place in exposed terrain with potentially changeable conditions – Alfred is clearly enjoying rising to the occasion!

#6: Discover Dog Sledding in Lapland (Sweden) – Tomas Kralik

One of our most artistic Arctic Explorer Selfies, Tomas’ beautifully crisp shot has the most amazing frosty eyelashes we’ve seen!

#7: Discover Dog Sledding in Lapland (Sweden) – Lisa Hynes

More frosty eyelashes! Lisa calls this wonderful shot “White Mascara”!

#8: Aurora Husky Adventure in Finnmark (Norway) – Emma Van Hecke

One of the unique features of this tour is that even the clothing provided is handmade from local materials. Here Emma demonstrates how it’s perfectly adapted for keeping you warm and comfortable when sledding in the Finnmark tundra!

#9: Discover Dog Sledding in Lapland (Sweden) – Phil Wallwork

We love Phil’s shot for its “ready for anything” feel, and for showcasing how the the musher’s hat provided as part of the clothing for the tour can really come in handy!

#10: Hut to Hut Aurora Husky Safari in Lapland (Finland) – Marco Penzone

It gets cold up in the far north of Finland! Sometimes you really don’t want to be showing any skin at all!

#11 Aurora Husky Adventure in Finnmark (Norway) – Neal Basson

OK, I know we said this was a Top 10, but we just couldn’t leave this one out – the light is so beautiful!

And finally…Husky Mountain Expedition in Lapland (Sweden) – Bob Carter, Nature Travels

Here’s one from the Nature Travels team, from Bob’s first Husky Mountain Expedition in Lapland tour. After days of sledding under clear blue skies, a monster storm rolled in just as the group reached the Singi cabin. Here, Bob tries to have a word with one of our guests, Daniela, as she returns from a very adventurous visit to the outhouse! You can read Bob’s account of the trip here.
