Unleash your inner dogsled diva on this very special "Ladies Only" dog sledding tour in the Trondelag region of central Norway, where the only males will be in your dog team! Just an hour from Trondheim and accessible by direct flight from the UK or connections via Oslo, Ladies' Husky Tour combines the adventure and excitement of mushing your own dogsled team with the special atmosphere of an all-female tour.
The 4-day husky tour includes comfortable accommodation in shared cabins near the husky kennels with two dogsledding day tours in the surrounding area, while the longer 5-day option features a point-to-point tour component with an overnight in simple mountain cabin out in the wilderness.
You will be given full guidance in how to harness your team and handle the sled before heading off into the beautiful winter landscape, stopping for lunch over open fire along the way.
The 4-day tour also includes the option to join an elementary knitting course in the afternoon of Day 2 - Norway is justly famous for its tradition of working with wool.
Ladies' Husky Tour is an ideal way to discover the joy of dog sledding and working with your own husky team in an all-female setting and (for the 4-day tour) even discover a little of Norway's craft heritage, whether you choose to participate as a solo traveller, mother and daughter(s) or as female friends.
You will be met from Kopperå station (transfer is also available from Trondheim airport as an optional extra), for transfer to the husky kennels. Here you will meet the dogs for the first time and begin your adventure with a two-course Norwegian dinner at the kennels together, an ideal opportunity to get to know your host and the rest of the group. After dinner you will be transferred approx. 12km to your cabin accommodation at the mountain lodge for the night.
After breakfast, you will be collected around 09.30 for short drive back to the kennels. After instruction in harnessing your dogs and handling the sled, you will set out for a day's dogsled tour in the surrounding area, driving your own team of 4-6 huskies, making a stop for lunch in a "lavvu" (traditional tipi) or outside around the fire.
When you return to the kennels in the afternoon after your tour, you can choose if you wish to join an elementary knitting course at your host's house to learn more about this Norwegian craft tradition. You will have an introduction and can start a project to take home and finish if you wish. Knitting equipment and handmade local knitted crafts are available to purchase. Alternatively, you can simply choose to take a short time to relax, take a walk in the surroundings or play with the dogs at the kennels! In the evening, you will have transfer to your accommodation where a 3-course dinner is served in the evening.
After breakfast, you are transferred to the kennels where you will ready your team for a day's dog sledding tour (duration 4-5 hours), stopping for lunch over open fire along the way. Later in the day, you return to the lodge, with time to relax and enjoy the surroundings, before ending your experience with a three-course dinner together to look back on your adventure.
Breakfast and transfer to Kopperå for departure.

After breakfast, you are transferred to the kennels where you begin an overnight dogsled tour into the mountains, taking you over the mountain plateau for a day's sledding of approx. 20-35km. You stop along the way for lunch and have good chances to see reindeer in the area. Your destination is a simple mountain cabin, where you will take care of your dogs before readying the cabin for the night. Everyone assists with tasks such as feeding and caring for your team, lighting a fire in the cabin and fetching water. You then make dinner together and relax for the evening in the silence of the winter landscape.
After feeding the dogs and organising the cabin, you will sled back towards the kennels with lunch along the way. Once back, you unharness your team and take care of the equipment before transfer back to the mountain lodge, where you have time for a short walk or just relax and enjoy a shower before your farewell three-course dinner together.
