"For a snowy winter getaway, you can't get much more picture-postcard than the Northern Comfort Lodge on the shore of Lake Revsund in Jämtland. Look out for bonus winter-wonderland points. Everything is built in Swedish timber, from the log cabin itself, to the outdoor wood-heated sauna and hot-tub 'bathing barrel'. With a lake on one side and a dense pine forest on the other, there's snowshoed hiking or ice fishing up for grabs; or just curl up in front of a roaring log fire. The cabin accommodates eight and the large kitchen and living area are all decorated - unsurprisingly - in traditional Swedish style." Recommended in the Time Out Guide "1000 Great Holiday Ideas"
The Northern Comfort Lodge is a spacious, comfortable, traditionally-constructed Swedish log cabin located on the shore of Lake Revsund in Jämtland. The lodge has everything you might expect of an idyllic Swedish log cabin – a beautiful lakeside/forest location, spacious, airy living area, private sauna and a wood-burning stove.
But the lodge also has a few surprises – including a larger wood-heated outside sauna and hot-tub "bathing barrel" right by the water’s edge!
Whatever you are looking for from a winter log cabin holiday - be it adventure, a chance to socialise with friends or an active family break for larger families or two families travelling together, the Northern Comfort Lodge offers the ideal solution for groups of up to 8 persons. Accommodation at the lodge is divided into four bedrooms, each sleeping two persons, with a large open-plan kitchen and living area, decorated throughout in traditional style.
Lynx is a cabin for up to 6 persons, furnished and decorated to a similar standard to the Northern Comfort Lodge. Lynx is an excellent choice for a romantic log cabin holiday for couples or as a base for families or small groups. The cabin has 2 x 2-person bedrooms and a sleeping loft for an additional two persons. Lynx is just 45m from the lake, is fully equipped with kitchen, shower and WC, sauna and hot tub and has a wood-burning stove.
In winter, Jämtland lies thick with snow. The lakes freeze over and the landscape becomes a magical winter playground. If it is relaxation you are looking for, the lodge is an excellent base to simply enjoy the quiet and beauty of the snow-clad forest (perhaps while the children go off to build snowmen or make snow-angels!). If you would prefer more adventurous experience, there is a wide range of both guided and self-guided activities available, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Dog sledding tours in the surrounding area are also available. You can choose to drive your own sled (a real winter adventure!) or for families with children, you can relax on the sled while an expert local musher guides you through the winter landscape.
A stay in the Northern Comfort Lodge or Lynx is an uplifting, close-to-nature experience suitable for all ages and levels of ability. The log cabins are normally available for booking for 8-day periods Saturday-Saturday. Outside high season other start days and durations may be possible. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Comments on Winter at the Northern Comfort Lodge:
"The cabin was fantastic! One of the nicest I've ever seen and nice surroundings." Ute, March 2009
"For me the whole trip was an amazing experience and I couldn't pick one moment that was a highlight. I would like to thank everyone at Nature Travels for being so helpful through the booking process and lead up to the holiday and also would like to thank our host Geerd for making our stay so warm, friendly and one of the most enjoyable holidays for a long time. I couldn't fault him in any way, the cabin was presented beautifully, he was friendly and easy going and certainly knew his stuff. I wouldn't hesitate in booking again." Jodie, New Year 2008/2009
