A log cabin in Sweden is an ideal escape from the stresses of modern life - a place to unwind and give some time to the truly important things in life.
The three traditionally-constructed log cabins are attractively situated just 75m from the lakeside near a small hamlet in the west of Värmland, with hiking, fishing, canoeing and cycling all available from your doorstep. The log cabins sleep up to six persons and each log cabin has a large veranda with table and chairs, perfect for cooking out of doors or just sitting and enjoying the view over the lake. Each log cabin also includes its own boat with environmentally-friendly 4-stroke engine which can be used to explore three local lakes. To the north stretches "Finnskogen", the Finnish Forest, a beautiful area ideal for hiking tours.
Couples seeking a romantic getaway will find endless miles of forest tracks to explore in privacy and seclusion. Why not take the boat included with the log cabin and strike out for your own private landing spot across one of the lakes?
For outdoor and nature enthusiasts, the area's vast forests, myriad lakes and rolling hills are rich in wildlife, including elk and beaver, and if the season is right the woods will be bursting with berries and mushrooms just waiting to be picked.
For families, the area provides a wealth of possibilities, with canoes and mountain bikes available for hire to help you explore. And after a hard day of activity, you can relax with a sauna!
Depending on the season, the waters are also excellent for fishing. The log cabins lie within the Mången-Treens fishing preservation area, and as well as the three larger lakes, there are around 30 smaller ones in the local area, constituting 1750 hectares of fishing waters in all. The fish here have not been stocked in the lakes: these waters are their natural habitat. The fishing works on a "catch and release" basis, i.e. the fish that are caught must be let back into the water. As a guest, however, you are allowed to eat from your catch during your stay. Apart from "spin-fishing", many different angling techniques, including fly-fishing, can be used. Your local provider will happy to discuss different fishing methods. Your hosts or fishing guides are always there to guide you if you wish, and it is possible to arrange personal guides for the day. You will have a map of the whole fishing area and "deep maps" for the three larger lakes, good for those who like to find the perch hides.
With the log cabin as your base, the forests, hills and lakes of Värmland are just waiting to be explored!

"Our trip was little short of spectacular, and the service we received from you at Nature Travels first class in every way. I am still recovering from the shock of returning to 'civilization'. This was my first trip to Sweden - and as a lover of all-things outdoors - it was a real discovery, I can't wait to go back!" Alexy, August 2009
"Thanks for all of your help, we had a fantastic trip and will certainly be back." Peter, July 2009
"Thank you very much for arranging our accommodation in Sweden. We arrived into Oslo to a beautiful covering of snow and enjoyed a very pleasant drive to the cabin...On our arrival we were greeted with a very warm welcome from our host and shown to our cabin, which was absolutely perfect, very warm and cosy.
"We spent our time exploring the area on foot and also ventured further afield along the forest roads by car. In addition rowing on the lake was very enjoyable, that is before it froze leaving a stunning view instead! The experience really was fantastic and the combination of snow, rain, sun, frost and ice provided us with very varied conditions in which to enjoy exploring the wonderful area.
"We are keen to return to Sweden again and will hopefully be in touch to arrange our next trip soon." Joseph, October 2008
"I was very happy with the service provided...It was very well-organised and Björn was very helpful and accommodating." Oscar, February 2008
