Summer at the Northern Comfort Lodge

Two lakeside log cabins with sauna and hot-tub and a range of guided and self-guided activities

Log cabin holidays in Sweden: Jämtland

Overview

Northern Comfort Lodge

The Northern Comfort Lodge is a spacious, comfortable, traditionally-constructed Swedish log cabin located on the shore of Lake Revsund in Jämtland. The lodge has everything you might expect of an idyllic Swedish log cabin – a beautiful lakeside/forest location, spacious, airy living area, private sauna and a wood-burning stove.

But the lodge also has a few surprises – including a larger wood-heated outside sauna and hot-tub “bathing barrel” right by the water’s edge!

Whatever you are looking for from a log cabin holiday - be it adventure, a chance to socialise with friends or an active family break for larger families or two families travelling together, the Northern Comfort Lodge offers the ideal solution for groups of up to 8 persons. Accommodation at the lodge is divided into four bedrooms, each sleeping two persons, with a large open-plan kitchen and living area, decorated throughout in traditional style.

Lynx

Lynx is a cabin for up to 6 persons, furnished and decorated to a similar standard to the Northern Comfort Lodge. Lynx is an excellent choice for a romantic log cabin holiday for couples or as a base for families or small groups. The cabin has 2 x 2-person bedrooms and a sleeping loft for an additional two persons. Lynx is just 45m from the lake, is fully equipped with kitchen, shower and WC, sauna and hot tub and has a wood-burning stove.

The surrounding area offers a wide range of outdoor activity possibilities. The wild forests and rolling mountains of Jämtland are ideal for hiking. The lake of Revsund is right outside the door, so why not take a canoe and paddle over in search of a secluded picnic spot on the island of Ammeron? For those interested in cycling, the surrounding area offers excellent mountain biking terrain and endless miles of wilderness to explore.

In addition to hire of canoes and bikes for self-guided exploration, you also have the option to include a number of guided activities. With your host, an expert bushcraft practitioner and experienced adventurer, you can discover the rich fauna and flora of the surrounding forests and hills on a guided hike, learn the art of outdoor cooking over open fire, or go on a dedicated wildlife safari to spot some of Sweden’s most exciting animals. It is even possible to arrange a summer dog sledding tour, using a cart instead of the sleds used in the winter season!

A stay in the Northern Comfort Lodge or Lynx is an uplifting, close-to-nature experience suitable for all ages and levels of ability. The cabins are normally available for booking for 8-day periods Saturday-Saturday. Outside high season other start days and durations may be possible. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

It is the second-largest province in Sweden, making up just over 8% of the country's total area but with an average population density of just over 3 persons per square kilometre.
