Nature Travels News | Customer Comments | New Tours - Summer and Winter
We've had a wonderful summer season here at Nature Travels, with more of you than ever travelling with us to discover the delights of Sweden's wilder places by paddle, pedal and pedestrian power! Here in Dorset too there's been a great deal of activity going on. We've added two new experiences for the coming winter season in the far north of Sweden - Lapland Husky Holiday One-To-One and Igloo Building in Swedish Lapland. And with scientists predicting that 2012 will be 50-year-peak for Northern Lights activity, there's never been a better time to travel to Swedish Lapland!
Our dogsled experiences this winter have already proven so popular that many dates are already close to fully booked, so if you are considering a winter tour we would strongly recommend making your booking as soon as possible to ensure your chosen options are available (and also for the best flight prices, etc).
As well as constantly expanding and evaluating our range of holidays in Sweden, things have been very busy closer to home. In October Nature Travels will be moving to lovely new offices, and we are looking forward to welcoming the newest member of the Nature Travels Team, Viki, who will be joining us in a few weeks' time.
While for many of you your thoughts and plans are already turning to the snow, don't forget Sweden can be stunningly beautiful in autumn, and a last-minute log cabin break may be just what you need to relax after the summer madness!
Early booking discount for Reindeer Sledding and recent media coverage of Nature Travels experiences
Book before 30th November to receive a 10% discount on Sami Reindeer Expedition in Lapland, a 4-day winter adventure ideal for those seeking a unique alternative to dog sledding. Tours are offered from mid-December to late April.
Nick Thorpe's hugely entertaining and very insightful new book "Urban Worrier" features many adventures (both spiritual and physical!) and includes a chapter on Nick's experiences of Timber Rafting on Klarälven. We recommend the book as a perfect autumn read, and we're not just saying that because we're in it!
British Airways "High Life" in-flight magazine recommended our new Discover Bushcraft for Families tour as one of its top family holidays. Our Log Cabin Escape in Värmland was also recently featured in "Bella".
Our Facebook community continues to grow in popularity and you have been sending in some stunning photographs from your trips this summer. You can see a selection in the Nature Travels Facebook gallery. We've also been delighted that many of you respond to our monthly "mini-challenge" and the the "send us a postcard" challenge has been particularly popular and brightened up the Nature Travels office walls considerably!
Many of you kindly write and tell us about your experiences. Here is just a selection of your recent comments [bookings for all the experiences below are now open for 2012]:
"We're back from our canoeing and just wanted to say thanks for helping us have a really fabulous holiday. It was even better than we'd hoped for - such glorious scenery, and so peaceful and relaxing being completely away from civilisation. We had fabulous sunny still weather, and every morning opening the tent door to a gorgeous forest and lake was a joy. I caught two fish and we walked to the top of the highest mountain in the region too. Much fun." Ben, July 2011
"Landscape exceeded expectations, the guide was wonderfully knowledgeable. Standout feature of the trip was expertise of the guide, very impressive knowledge of the outdoors and the particular area. Thank you, we enjoyed ourselves very much, a quite spectacular country." Ciaran, August 2011
"Everything went smoothly...good equipment and good planning on your part and excellent guide who made us feel safe, happy and very pleased that we took the adventure. We were very happy with all aspects especially the ability, experience and care that the guide added to the adventure." Brian, August 2011
New exciting tours for the upcoming winter season.
Choose your own husky for a comfortable winter adventure together in the frozen north.
Don't forget that huge savings can be made by booking your winter holiday in advance. Nature Travels prices don't change (we don't normally do sales and last-minute-discount offers, preferring to offer fairly-priced experiences all year round - though we do occasionally do early booking discounts!), but the cost of flights will normally be much cheaper if booked in advance. For example, Norwegian currently has many fares to Sweden this winter for around £70 or less. And if travelling by train in Sweden, the most affordable tickets are released 90 days in advance, with return sleeper fares Stockholm-Kiruna available for as little as £80 return, so booking your tickets as soon as possible within 90 days of travel will normally give substantial savings.
Spare a thought for your garden wildlife as we move into autumn - it's been a very dry period and many animals may be struggling for food as they prepare for the coming winter. And of course, check those bonfires carefully for hedgehogs!
We'll be back in the New Year, with information on how to enjoy Sweden's glorious "spring winter" in March and April.
Best regards
The Nature Travels Team
