Whether you are looking for a trip focussed on outdoor activities or a tranquil and romantic log cabin holiday in Sweden, our three log cabin experiences have a great deal to offer. All have lakeside locations and accommodation for 6-8 persons depending on the cabin chosen - perfect for families or groups of friends as well as couples.
Our Log Cabin Escape in Värmland experience has a total of three cabins, spaced widely apart, just 75m from the lakeside. Each cabin can accommodate up to 6 persons (4+2) and so is ideal for families with children or small groups of friends. If you are a larger group, up to 20 persons can be accommodated in all, making the cabins an excellent choice for extended family gatherings or club trips. Each cabin has a large porch area ideally suited for sociable evenings around the barbecue with friends or family.
The forests and lakes around the log cabins are part of the Mangen-Treens Fishing Preservation Area, and the waters are renowned for their excellent pike fishing. Included in the price of these traditional Swedish log cabins is a boat with environmentally-friendly outboard motor (using a quieter and cleaner 4-stroke engine instead of the traditional 2-stroke), allowing you the freedom to explore three local lakes, whether you are planning to head out on a fishing trip or just off to discover a private picnic spot with your family. As well as fishing, the lakes are ideal for exploring by canoe, which can be rented on site. Bikes can also be hired, and there are endless tracks for riding in the surrounding forests.
The log cabins are available year-round, and in winter a network of cross-country ski trails runs right outside the door. The local lakes freeze over and you can go ice-fishing, or borrow snowshoes and head off into the silence of the deep forests. If you have your own transport and are keen on downhill skiing, there is also a local slope just 30 minutes away. For families with pets, dogs are welcome at the log cabins, and you can even borrow a harness and sledge for a DIY "dog sledging" experience! Whatever time of year you choose to visit, these log cabins in Sweden provide an excellent base for outdoor activities, or just relaxing and enjoying the view.
Located 3km away from the cabins on the Log Cabin Escape in a secluded lakeside setting, our Lakeside Cabin Retreat in Värmland offers a choice of two cabins just 10-15m from the water's edge. The larger cabin, Nissebo, sleeps up to 6 with additional sleeping accommodation for 2 more persons in a small summer cabin just a few metres away, while the smaller Moon cabin has its own private jetty. Lakeside Cabin Retreat offers the same range of activities and equipment hire possibilities as for the Log Cabin Escape in Värmland, and as with the Log Cabin Escape, each cabin comes with its own boat. Lakeside Cabin Retreat is the ideal choice for a romantic cabin break or as a base for fishing, hiking and mountain biking.
Our other alternative for a Swedish log cabin is the Northern Comfort Lodge, a beautifully-constructed log cabin in traditional style, situated on the shore of Lake Revsund in Jämtland. The cabin can sleep up to 8 persons in four 2-person rooms, has a large open plan kitchen and living area, and has an inside wood-heated sauna. For a real Scandinavian cultural experience, there is a larger lakeside sauna just a few metres from the cabin with a "bathing barrel" hot tub right by the water's edge. Relaxing in a wood-heated hot tub in the company of friends with a cold beer and a view out over the lake is a unique experience!
The Northern Comfort Lodge is an ideal base for an active log cabin holiday in Sweden, whether you choose to take advantage of the endless daylight and visit in summer, or are looking for a deep snow experience and the magical atmosphere of winter.
In summer, you can choose between hiking in the surrounding forests, mountain biking in the hills or canoeing on Lake Revsund (bikes and canoes are available to hire on site). Your host is an expert in bushcraft and from your base at the log cabin you can arrange private guided excursions with your host to help you make the most of your visit to the area. You can learn how to cook over open fire or take a wildlife safari to search for some of the fascinating diversity of animals inhabiting the region, from elk to spectacular birds of prey.
If you have always wanted to try your hand at dog sledding but find yourself at the log cabin in summer, why not try a truly unusual summer activity - summer dog sledding! During the summer, the Alaskan Huskies used for dog sledding in the snow in wintertime are kept in top shape drawing "dog carts", with wheels instead of the runners used on a winter sled. Summer dog sledding is a real adventure and can also be booked as an optional day activity from the lodge.
The lodge is also an ideal location for a winter log cabin holiday. In winter, Jämtland lies deep in snow. Lake Revsund freezes hard, making it ideal for ice fishing. The surrounding forests around the log cabin are blanketed in luxuriant snow cover and are ideal for exploring by snowshoes or on cross-country skis. The mountains are also superb dog sledding country, and day excursions can be arranged from the lodge. Choose between driving your own dogsled or a "chauffeur-driven" experience where a number of persons can share a sled - a great way for families to give younger children a chance to experience the thrill of dog sledding!
Temperatures may be sub-zero outside, but inside Swedish log cabins always remain snug and warm. If you're feeling adventurous, why not round off your evening sauna with a quick plunge into the icy waters of Lake Revsund?
For couples and families up to 5 persons, Lynx is a smaller cabin adjacent to the Northern Comfort Lodge and furnished to a similar standard. The cabin has 2 x 2-person rooms with the option for an additional bed in one room, fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, toilet, wood-burning stove, hot tub and sauna.
Whether you are looking for romance or adventure (or both!), a log cabin in Sweden will take you far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life to the space and tranquility of the Swedish forest...
