Our dog sledding tours are very popular both with private clients and groups. In addition to the standard itineraries, we also offer tailor-made experiences ideal for adventurous training for Armed Forces groups, charity dog sledding and stag and hen dog sledding trips.
A cabin-to-cabin dog sledding tour with 3 days' dog sledding in the mountains and accommodation at the comfortable Husky Lodge in 2-person en-suite rooms at the start and end of your experience. Each day you will drive your own dogsled team of Siberian Huskies through a stunning landscape of mountain plains and forest, with lunch made over open fire out in the wilderness. This accessible and enjoyable husky holiday gives you all the adventure and challenge of an extended dog sledding expedition without the commitment of a week-long tour. Siberian Husky Dogsled Adventure is very personal winter holiday, ideal for solo travellers, couples, or small groups of friends.
For those with some previous experience of dog sledding who would like to develop their mushing skills on an extended expedition, our 8-day Dog Sledding Across Jämtland tour is the ideal option. Combining an extended mushing tour through the beautiful mountain landscape of Jämtland in north-west Sweden with winter camping, this adventurous dog sled holiday is a challenging but very rewarding experience. This tour offers a real winter challenge and a real mushing adventure!
A shorter tour, but a real adventure, Mushing in the Mountains is a 5-day experience taking you up into the Jämtland mountains for a dogsledding expedition with accommodation in tents along the way. Winter camping adds a whole new dimension to being out in the Swedish winter landscape, and sharing the challenge of the tour with your own team of Siberian Huskies is a nature experience that will remain with you for a lifetime!
An ideal option for those looking to combine the adventure of a mountain dogsled tour with the increased convenience of a fixed base. Husky Sledding from Tipi Base Camp features two nights' accommodation in a traditional tipi during the tour, from where a husky sledding day tour offers the possibility to run fast and light in surrounding wilderness with no luggage to transport. The tipi offers simple but comfortable accommodation and lends a very special atmosphere to the experience. This tour also gives you the chance to try your hand at ice fishing on the one of the frozen lakes! A moderately challenging but accessible tour suitable for adults with a taste for the unusual!
This 4-day experience with 2 days' dog sledding is the ideal choice for families or as a shorter or "taster" tour for adults, with flexible options allowing adult participants and older children to drive their own dogsled while younger children can ride in their parents' sleds. Including a full two days of dog sledding, Discover Dog Sledding in Lapland gives you all the adventure and excitement of an extended tour, with accommodation in wilderness cabins along the route. And once you've caught the mushing bug, you will very likely want to come back next year to develop your dog sledding skills on a longer expedition!
Both located in the far north of Sweden inside the Arctic Circle, these tours are a marvellous way to experience the Lapland wilderness, also offering good chances to see a display of the Northern Lights, described by many as the most beautiful natural sight they have ever seen. Group sizes are small, just 6 persons, and each participant drives their own sled with 4-5 Siberian Huskies. Both are 8-day dog sled holidays taking you through some of Sweden's most beautiful winter landscapes.
Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland has scheduled tours weekly from just before Christmas until early March. During this period, weather conditions are often not suitable for dog sledding higher up in the mountains, but it is a wonderful time for exploring Lapland's ancient forests, frozen rivers and lakes.
Later in the season, as the days lengthen, temperatures rise and the promise of spring begins to beckon, it is time to take to the Lapland mountains. Husky Mountain Expedition in Lapland runs from the beginning of March until mid-April. This can be a wonderful time to go dog sledding in Lapland, combining the deep snows of winter with the milder conditions of early spring.
For those wishing to combine comfortable accommodation, good food, accessible adventure and the chance to take care of your very own husky for a week, Lapland Husky Holiday One-To-One is an ideal choice, and is suitable for families, couples or groups of friends. From your base in private accommodation in comfortable rooms at the Lodge, you will head out each day for a series of winter activities, always in the company of your husky: dog sledding, snowshoeing, skijoring and an exciting overnight at the Wilderness Camp. Each evening you have the opportunity to soothe your muscles in the sauna!
An exciting and unusual alternative to dog sledding and incorporating a strong cultural element, our Sami Reindeer Expedition in Lapland is far from the "Santa"-style experience that the idea of reindeer sledding may suggest. This is a journey through time - reindeer sleds are the traditional mode of winter transport used the Sami people, the indigenous people of northern Sweden. On this 6-day adventure led by local Sami guide, you will drive your own reindeer sled with accommodation in wilderness cabins and traditional Sami "lavvu" or tipis and learn a great deal about Sami culture along the way!
Finally, if you like the idea of a husky holiday but are not looking for a dedicated dogsled tour, we offer a range of experiences which include dog sledding alongside other winter activites. Our Experience Lapland multi-activity package combines dog sledding with reindeer sledding in the beautiful Lapland wilderness.
For families with younger children or those who would like to just "have a go", it is possible to arrange dogsledding day tours as optional extras for both our Winter at the Northern Comfort Lodge, Winter Log Cabin Escape in Värmland and Winter Wonderland on a Forest Farm experiences. If you are staying at the Northern Comfort Lodge in summer, you can even try dog sledding on wheels!
Dog sledding in Sweden is a unique and wonderfully addictive experience. If you haven't tried it, you really should. And if you already have, then it's time to get back on the trail!
