Siberian Husky Dogsled Adventure (6 days)

Your base for this experience may be the comfortable Husky Lodge in 2-person en-suite rooms, but there is no shortage of adventure on this mushing holiday! Each day you will drive your own dogsled team of Siberian Huskies into the surrounding forests, exploring the area and taking lunch in the wilderness before returning to the comfort of the lodge for the evening. The experience also includes a 2-day tour into the mountains with overnight in mountain cabin or tent, giving you a real feel of an extended dog sledding expedition. Siberian Husky Dogsled Adventure is very personal winter holiday, ideal for couples, families with older children or small groups of friends.

Dog Sledding Across Jämtland (8 days)

For those with some previous experience of dog sledding who would like to develop their mushing skills on an extended expedition, our 8-day Dog Sledding Across Jämtland tour is the ideal option. Combining an extended mushing tour through the beautiful mountain landscape of Jämtland in north-west Sweden with winter camping, this adventurous dog sled holiday is a challenging but very rewarding experience. Tour dates are added on request for a minimum of just 2 persons, so this tour offers a great deal of flexibility for a real mushing adventure! If you have a yearning for adventure but do not have previous dog sledding experience, it is also possible to do the tour using Day 2 as a training day to hone your mushing skills before taking to the mountains.

Mushing in the Mountains (5 days)

A shorter tour, but a real adventure, Mushing in the Mountains is a 5-day experience taking you up into the Jämtland mountains for a dogsledding expedition with accommodation in tents along the way. Winter camping adds a whole new dimension to being out in the Swedish winter landscape, and sharing the challenge of the tour with your own team of Siberian Huskies is a nature experience that will remain with you for a lifetime!

Family Husky Sledding Adventure (4-8 days)

Perfect for families with younger children or for those seeking a "taster" experience, Family Husky Sledding Adventure is a fun and flexible experience. You can choose to spend one or two overnights during your dogsled tour, with accommodation in wilderness cabin and lunch made on open fire in the forest. You will share a sled driven by a local guide. Before and/or after your dogsledding tour, you can extend your stay in the area with accommodation at comfortable log cabin, offering a wide range of winter activities such as ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or just playing in the snow!

Dog Sledding and Winter Bushcraft (6 days)

Our Dog Sledding and Winter Bushcraft tour combines the challenge and adventure of an extended dog sledding tour with accommodation in teepees and mountain cabins and instruction in winter bushcraft skills, including cooking over open fire, navigation techniques, and (if you are feeling energetic!) how to build a snowshelter. You will also learn how to identify some of the many animal tracks you will see along the route. Dog Sledding and Winter Bushcraft is bookable on custom dates by arrangement between December and April for groups of minimum 4 persons, and we also offer a fixed-date tour over New Year for individuals and smaller groups.

Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland and Husky Mountain Expedition in Lapland (8 days)

Both located in the far north of Sweden inside the Arctic Circle, these tours are a marvellous way to experience the Lapland wilderness, also offering good chances to see a display of the Northern Lights, described by many as the most beautiful natural sight they have ever seen. Group sizes are small, just 6 persons, and each participant drives their own sled with 4-5 Siberian Huskies. Both are 8-day dog sled holidays taking you through some of Sweden's most beautiful winter landscapes.

Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland has scheduled tours weekly from just before Christmas until early March. During this period, weather conditions are often not suitable for dog sledding higher up in the mountains, but it is a wonderful time for exploring Lapland's ancient forests, frozen rivers and lakes.

Later in the season, as the days lengthen, temperatures rise and the promise of spring begins to beckon, it is time to take to the Lapland mountains. Husky Mountain Expedition in Lapland runs from the beginning of March until mid-April. This can be a wonderful time to go dog sledding in Lapland, combining the deep snows of winter with the milder conditions of early spring.

Combining dog sledding with other activities

Finally, if you like the idea of a husky holiday but are not looking for a dedicated dogsled tour, we offer a range of experiences which include dog sledding alongside other winter activites. Our Experience Lapland multi-activity package combines dog sledding with reindeer sledding in the beautiful Lapland wilderness. For a romantic break in the depths of winter, Midwinter Magic at the Husky Lodge is a multi-activity holiday available as a private experience for just two persons and is also an ideal choice for a groups of up to 6 persons.

For families with younger children or those who would like to just "have a go", it is possible to arrange dogsledding day tours as optional extras for both our Winter at the Northern Comfort Lodge and Winter Wonderland on a Forest Farm experiences. If you are staying at the Northern Comfort Lodge in summer, you can even try dog sledding on wheels!

Dog sledding in Sweden is a unique and wonderfully addictive experience. If you haven't tried it, you really should. And if you already have, then it's time to get back on the trail!
