Each of our dog sledding holidays in Sweden offers something different, and it is important that you choose the best experience for you. We have outlined information on our range of dogsled tours below to make it easy to compare the different tours. You may also find our series of dog sledding faqs of help in answering any questions you might have about the various tours. Alternatively, please contact us and we will happy to answer any questions you may have.
Discover Dog Sledding is our shortest husky tour. Scheduled across long weekends Friday to Monday, this is the ideal choice for those who are short of time or who are not able to commit to a longer expedition. The tour gives you two days of driving your own dogsled, with one night out in the mountains staying in a mountain cabin. A great way to catch the dog sledding bug!
Dogsled Adventure in Jämtland is the most popular of our 7-day tours, giving you a real feeling for expedition dogsledding. As with all our extended tours, each participant will be in charge of their own husky team, and by the end of the tour you should be well on your way to becoming an expert dogsled handler! With four nights out in mountain cabins and stations along the route, the tour also includes the opportunity for a dog sledding day tour, an exhilarating experience which allows you to leave your packing back at base to run fast and light with your dogsled team and let them show you what they can do! This tour is also very popular with groups seeking a winter adventure training experience, and for private groups we are happy to adapt the standard tour to includes elements of winter survival training and navigation.
For a real challenge, Go Camping By Dogsled is a unique winter experience, combining an extended 7-day dogsled tour with the added adventure of winter camping. While challenging, this experience is still accessible to anyone in good health who loves the outdoors. If you like summer camping, you'll love winter camping, and the dogs are always eager for a cuddle if you're feeling chilly! This dog sledding tour is particularly popular with active families with older children and private groups or outdoor clubs seeking experience in winter conditions.
If you like to combine your adventure travel with a touch of luxury, our Premium Dog Sledding Expedition should be the ideal choice. With all the thrill and challenge of our other expedition dog sledding holidays, this premium tour adds accommodation in well-equipped mountain stations along the route and excellent local cuisine. Premium Dog Sledding Expedition is an excellent choice for more mature clients or for those not so used to outdoor life - a night in a Swedish mountain station is an excellent way to recharge your batteries after a hard day on the trail! - or simply for anyone who enjoys the little luxuries of life but loves adventure.
New for the 2008/2009 winter season, we have also added our most flexible dogsledding experience, Dog Sledding and Winter Bushcraft. This is an unusual winter adventure bookable on custom dates by arrangement for groups of minimum 4 persons. Each musher will drive their own sled, with accommodation in teepees and cabins along the route. Your guide, a local bushcraft expert, will instruct you in winter bushcraft skills, including preparing food over open fire, navigation techniques, and (if you are feeling energetic!) how to build a snowshelter. This tour is ideal for small groups of friends or families wanting a private experience. There is also a scheduled date tour over New Year on which individual bookings are possible.
Finally, if you like the idea of a husky holiday but are not looking for a dedicated dogsled tour, we offer a range of experiences which include dog sledding alongside other winter activites. Our Experience Lapland multi-activity package combines dog sledding with reindeer sledding in the beautiful wilderness of Lapland in northern Sweden. For families with younger children or those who would like to just "have a go", it is possible to arrange dogsledding day tours as optional extras for both our Winter at the Northern Comfort Lodge and Winter Wonderland on a Forest Farm experiences. If you are staying at the Northern Comfort Lodge in summer, you can even try dog sledding on wheels!
Dog sledding in Sweden is a unique and wonderfully addictive experience. If you haven't tried it, you really should. And if you already have, then it's time to get back on the trail!
