Snowshoeing in Wolverine Country
Corporate Events (also suitable for Adult Groups)
This is a sample itinerary for a small corporate group of 4-12 persons based on 4 days/3 nights wild winter camping. Shorter or more extended experiences are also possible, and the itinerary can be adapted to suit the abilities and requirements of the participants. Leading you will be a local guide with considerable experience of extended expeditions, both in Sweden and worldwide, an accomplished adventurer and knowledgeable naturalist.
Day 1
Starting with breakfast at the traditional mountain station at Vålådalen, you will first be taken through all the equipment necessary for the tour. Food provisions, camping equipment, etc, will be divided among the group for packing. If you prefer not to carry a rucksack, there are also a limited number of "pulks", or sleds, available to borrow from your guide.
When the group is packed and ready, you will head off, very soon leaving the marked tracks and striking out into the wilderness. It is likely that from this point you will see no other persons until your return to the mountain station.
As you trek through the forest, your guide will help you identify the many signs left by the rich wildlife of the region, from the distinctive deep prints of the mighty elk to the delicate scurries of a pine marten, and it will not be long before you too can identify many of the marks and tracks you encounter.
You will also receive training and guidance in navigation and winter safety techniques. If you wish, it is possible to include a number of additional activities such as snow-shelter building.
As nightfall approaches, you will make camp at a spot of your choosing. Everyone will assist in collecting firewood and pitching tents, before making dinner together over an open fire beneath the wide skies of the Jämtland wilderness.
Days 2-4
Over the next three days you will continue your exploration of the forests and hills of the Vålådalan Nature Reserve. The distance you cover and the level of challenge of the tour will depend on weather conditions and the wishes of the group.
When your tour is over, you will make your way back to the mountain station for an afternoon sauna followed by farewell dinner.
