Ski Touring and Winter Mountaincraft in Jämtland
University Armed Forces
A University Air Squadron group from the north of England were looking for a guided ski touring experience combining skills training with accommodation in mountain cabins. The cabin variation of our standard experience provided the ideal solution.
Itinerary for cabin variation on standard tour:
Please note that the itinerary below is a guideline only. Route taken and distances covered per day will depend on weather conditions and needs and wishes of the group.
Day 1:
Beginning after breakfast from the mountain station, you will ski around 14km on this day to your first cabin. Cabins are heated by wood burners and gas stoves are available for cooking. Depending on weather conditions and availability of fresh water, you will need to melt snow for drinking and cooking.
Day 2:
On this day you will make a day tour in the surrounding mountains, allowing you to leave the bulk of your packing at the cabin and travel light. Distance covered approx. 20km
Day 3:
Distance to next cabin around 15km.
Day 4:
From here you will make your way back towards the mountain station to finish your experience with a sauna and dinner at the mountain station. Distance approx. 20km.
