The Sylarna mountain range lies on the border between Sweden and Norway. Its highest point is Storsylen at 1762m above sea level. Sylarna is an area of glaciers and Ice Age deposits and forms part of the so-called "Jämtland Triangle", a long-distance walking path between the Sylarna, Blåhammaren and Storulvån mountain stations.

A 7-day dog sledding holiday with 5 days' dog sledding, combining the challenges of a dog sledding expedition with comfortable overnight accommodation.
Dog sledding is a challenging and uplifting experience which gives you a real taste of the wilderness. Our Premium Dog Sledding Expedition gives you the chance to combine the rigours of life of the trail with the little luxuries of home, with accommodation in comfortable mountain stations and restaurant cuisine.
Your experience begins at the tourist station Storulvån. After dinner at the station's restaurant, your guide will take you through the planned route for the expedition and give you some tips on the equipment and how to handle the dogsled and work with the dogs. The following morning, the dog sledding expedition begins for real, when you are introduced to your dogsled team of Alaskan Huskies. You will be given advice and assistance for loading the sleds and harnessing your dogsled team, and then with the excited howling of the dogs ringing in your ears and echoing back to you from the surrounding mountains, it's time to be off!
The first part of your dog sledding journey takes you on a steep ascent towards Sylarna, the dogs pulling for all they're worth and loving every minute as you climb ever upwards before the landscape opens out with magnificent views all around. Your goal for the day is Blåhammaren, where, after taking care of the dogs and bedding them down for the night, you will retire to the station's restaurant for a well-earned meal to recount and relive the adventures of the day.
As your dog sledding tour progresses you will develop greater confidence as your skills as a dogsled driver and knowledge of your dogs improve. The following days will take you through a beautiful white mountain world, crossing over for a time to Norway before returning to the Swedish side of the border. Along the way you will pass through lakes and forests, staying at comfortable mountain stations with a combination of restaurant food and self-catering. You will have the opportunity to drill holes in the ice and try your luck at ice-fishing if you wish, and the itinerary includes one dog sledding day-tour, where you leave the bulk of your luggage at the mountain station for a day. Travelling fast and light for a time gives the dogs the freedom to go into top gear and is an exhilarating experience for both driver and dog team!
The last day of your dogsled tour tour takes you back to Storulvån, to spend your final evening sharing stories of your adventure and looking back over all you have seen and learned during your dog sledding expedition.
