Husky holidays in Sweden: Jämtland

Overview

Husky Sledding from Tipi Base Camp is an ideal dogsled tour for those who wish to combine the adventure of dog sledding, the very special atmosphere of winter camping in tipi and the unique experience of ice fishing on frozen lake.

You will spend a night at the comfortable Husky Lodge on arrival before transferring to the mountains for a your winter dogsledding adventure. You will drive your own dogsled, caring for and working closely with your team of huskies. You will spend two nights in tipi at the base camp, dog sledding in the surrounding wilderness and trying your luck at ice fishing before returning to the Husky Lodge for your final night.

Being a base camp tour as opposed to a point-to-point dogsled tour makes Husky Sledding from Tipi Base Camp an accessible experience suitable for a wide range of adult participants, while offering the full excitement and thrill of dog sledding in the mountains. With less equipment to transport, you will be running fast and light on a dog sledding day tour in the surrounding area. You will also have the chance to spend a relaxing morning ice fishing on one of the frozen lakes, the ideal opportunity to take time to enjoy the nature and the silence around you, with luck taking back a beautifully fresh Arctic Char for lunch!

A traditional Sami tipi offers a comfortable and welcoming base for the evenings, heated by wood-burning stove. When your eyes begin to close, there are wooden benches covered by soft, warm reindeer skins for sleeping. Specialist winter outer clothing as well as warm winter sleeping bag is provided.
