Details of Dalsland Canoe Marathon 13th August 2011 coming shortly!

Event report 2010:

It was a wonderful competition day, with the sun shining on competitors and spectators alike. The winners of the Dalsland Canoe Marathon 2010 were two newcomers to the event. The Elite Male class was won by Dane René Olsenwith a time of 4 hour 17 minutes and Elite Female class by Sweden Michaela Jonsson with a time of 5 hours 6 minutes.

"It was a great trip! We had no problem getting our rental canoe and starting the race. The weather was perfect and the stations along the race and accommodations after were all excellent. I will also say that the replies answering email questions before the trip was also a big help for someone who hasn't been to Europe proper before. I'll mention that my partner Sabine had never even been in a canoe before the race! She has plenty of rowing and some kayaking experience but I thought it was impressive. The Dalsland Canoe Marathon is Sweden's largest canoe event, a distance of 55km through the beautiful waterways of Dalsland in West Sweden. Almost 1000 participants lined up to begin the Dalsland Canoe Marathon in 2009, with the event attracting both elite and committed amateur paddlers as well as thousands of spectators cheering them on!
