If you are looking for a traditional family summer holiday in Sweden and chance to spend some quality family time together enjoying the simple pleasures of the Swedish outdoors, one of our log cabin holidays should be ideal for you. A log cabin holiday gives you the flexibility to be as active (or not!) as you wish, with summer activities including hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing and boating available right from the door. Choose a log cabin option is also ideal for two or more families travelling together, whether you choose adjacent cabins or a larger cabin for your whole group, and allows plenty of flexbility for some members of your party to take it easy while others go out and burn off some energy!

Our Log Cabin Escape in Värmland has three cabins situated just 75m from the lakeside, and a boat is included with each cabin - perfect for a family adventure day out exploring the surrounding lakes and seeking out the perfect picnic spot! The surrounding forests are also ideal for walking and cycling, and the area is also renowned for its excellent fishing - perfect for some quality "Dad and son" (or "Mum and daughter!") time.

For two families travelling together, the Northern Comfort Lodge is another ideal choice for a log cabin holiday, sleeping up to 8 persons in 4 x 2-person rooms, while the smaller Lynx cabin at the same location is ideal for up to 6 persons.

Very popular with active families looking for a real family adventure holiday are our range of self-guided canoe tours. Ranging in length from 4 to 14 days, many of our canoeing holidays in Sweden are suitable for families. Which one is best for your family will depend on the time you have available, how used you are to outdoor life (wild camping is possible on all the tours), and the ages of your children.

The most accessible of our canoeing holidays for families is Canoe on Klarälven. This runs in a rural area and is the only tour with the possible to stay at "proper" campsites at some points along the way if you wish. This is the canoe tour we recommend for families with younger children and is also the only tour suitable for single parents travelling with children. For all our other tours, a minimum of two adults is required for safety reasons.

For those seeking real challenge and adventure on their family canoeing holiday in Sweden, Canoe on Bergslagen is an ideal choice. This tour runs in a remote area of forest and lakes and requires a number of land transports. While this is the perfect tour for active families with teenagers who enjoy the outdoors, Canoe on Bergslagen can be hard work for younger children because of the land transports involved, so we do not recommend this tour for families with children under 10. Canoe on Svartälven is a slightly less challenging option in the same area which is an ideal remote alternative.
