Sweden has world-class opportunities for hiking, from the dramatic mountain landscapes of northern Sweden to the quiet forests of the southern regions.
Nature Travels offers a wide range of possibilities for hiking holidays in Sweden. Which tour is most suitable for you will depend on the kind of experience you are looking for - whether you would like a guided or self-guided hiking tour, prefer accommodation in cabins along the route or the adventure of wild camping.
Lapland, in the far north of Sweden, has some of the world's most stunning mountain scenery. We offer three guided experiences in this region: Hiking on the King's Trail from Abisko to Kebnekaise, Hiking in the National Parks of Laponia and Sarek National Park Expedition.
Of these, the tour in the pathless wilderness of Sarek National Park is the most challenging - a 9-day expedition with wild camping suitable for those in good physical condition and with some previous trekking experience. Hiking on the King's Trail and Hiking in the National Parks of Laponia are more accessible, but no less exciting, following sections of some of Sweden's best-known long-distance hiking paths. The King's Trail tour includes the option to ascend Sweden's highest mountain, Mt. Kebnekaise at 2015m. Accommodation is in simple but comfortable mountain cabins along the route.
A little to the south lies Dalarna, well-known within Sweden as a marvellous region for outdoor activities and the location for our Trekking in the Mountains of Dalarna tour. Led by experienced local guides, the tour takes you over the border into Norway on a multi-day trek suitable for both adults and older children with accommodation in mountain cabins along the route.

The mountains of Jämtland in north-west Sweden and the forests and lakes of southern Sweden are the settings for our self-guided hiking tours.
Self-guided Hiking in the Jämtland Mountains is located in one of the jewels of the Swedish fjäll - the Jämtland Triangle. If you have previous experience of hiking indepdendently with a pack, this tour is an ideal option, a point-to-point tour taking you between mountain stations and mountain cabins through a stunning landscape at the foot of Sweden's most southerly glacier.
Self-guided Hiking in Bohuslän offers opportunities for wonderful day hiking tours on private trails from your base at a simple camping cabin. Despite being located in the south-west of Sweden, the landscape is very reminiscent of the northern Taiga areas and offers a real feeling of the wilderness. If you would like to combine the challenge and adventure of wild camping with a few of the luxuries of home, Walking the Path of the Pilgrims is an ideal choice. Also located in the south of Sweden, this experience begins with 3-4 days' self-guided hiking on the Pilgrim's Trail camping wild along the way, before relaxing in comfort at a guest house at the end of the trail to soothe tired feet and reflect on your adventures!
While walking is a popular activity for almost everyone to some degree, an extended trek may not be to your taste. Nature Travels offers a wide range of opportunities for shorter and less challenging walks. For example, our choice of log cabins and guest houses in Sweden are all located in areas ideal for day walks.
Challenging trek or romantic stroll in the woods - Sweden offers all kinds of walking, and Nature Travels offers Sweden holidays to suit all kinds of walker!
