Canoeing | Timber Rafting | Dog Sledding | Snowshoeing | Ski Touring
We are pleased to announce the launch of a brand new section of our website dedicated to the particular needs of University Armed Forces groups. There are suggestions and sample itineraries for adventure training expeditions in summer and winter, from wilderness canoeing to ski touring.
We are happy to tailor the standard itineraries to suit the needs and wishes of your group. For larger groups, coach transfer between airports/cities and the location of your experience can also be arranged.
In response to the feedback received from one of our University Air Squadron groups this summer who were keen to maximise the challenge of their canoe tour, we have now added the option to combine our standard 7 or 14-day Svartälven and Bergslagen canoe routes into one tour, offering around 200km of wilderness canoeing. By planning detours into side lake and river systems along the way, it is possible to further extend the distance travelled almost indefinitely, allowing each tour to be individually tailored to the ability and level of experience of the participants.
Our range of dog sledding experiences continues to be a popular choice as an unusual winter expedtion for Armed Forces groups. We offer the option of cabin accommodation along the route, or for those seeking an additional challenge, a winter camping option is also available. Each participant drives their own dogsled with 4-5 Alaskan Huskies.
Steve Woodfine of Cambridge UAS had this to say of his group's experience of Dogsled Adventure in Jämtland in 2007: "We had an absolutely awesome time. The whole expedition covered all and more of what we set out to achieve. Although not as physically challenging as we expected, the long days and selflessness of the whole experience (looking after the dogs before ourselves) tailored the week as being one of the best expeditions for personal development and social interaction I have ever taken part in. From start to finish we needed to work together to make it a success and from the students' feedback of the whole event it was a great success. I have already been singing your praises and selling the experiences that you offer...So a very big thank you from Cambridge University Air Squadron to the guides Tommy and Fredrik, who were excellent.More importantly a massive 'Thank you' to you. You were an inspiration. You were one of the most efficient and helpful people I have ever dealt with, you really made sure that this expedition went ahead without any problems."
With a new emphasis among University Armed Forces groups on ski touring, our Ski Touring and Winter Mountaincraft in Jämtland experience provides an ideal opportunity to combine an extended ski touring expedition with training in winter mountain skills. New for winter 2008/2009, we have added the option to stay at cabins along the route in addition to the standard winter camping option.
